Hotel Information: This low-key hotel draws budget-minded families and honeymooners who wish to prepare their own meals and set their own pace, ocean-side. Fifty yards away, Napili Bay's sand beach slopes to the water, reachable by an ocean-side path.
Amenity highlights: The resort's two-story buildings are separated by a narrow lawn-and-garden courtyard gently falling toward the ocean. At the courtyard's top is a koi pond with fountains. Next comes a pool and a spa tub. Then a couple of barbecue decks with picnic tables. Another pool by the ocean is surrounded by a large sundeck. Beyond is a grassy slope overlooking a rocky shore. Beyond that there's nothing but the blue Pacific and fabulous Hawaiian sunsets.
Insider tip: At the oceanfront, turning left instead of right toward the beach at Napili Bay leads guests along a rocky path to a rock-shore cove that's a prime sea turtle gathering spot. Less agile guests walk along the quiet street in front of the resort to a public walkway providing access to the cove.
Low-rise family-friendly Outrigger Napili Shores offers 99 condominium units in two-story buildings with exterior corridors. Rooms are cooled by ceiling fans rather than air conditioning. Furnished lanais have ocean or garden views. Rooms feature casual light-colored island-style furniture, rose and green decor.
Rooms offer kitchens with stoves/ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, dishwashers, coffeemakers, and cookware/dishes. Each unit also has cable TV, phones with voice mail, hair dryers, and in-room safes (surcharge). Dial-up Internet access is available (surcharge).
